Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
I like to be organized, but Mike would tell you I am not. I have boxes and boxes of stuff! What he doesn’t realize is the fact that I don’t have anyplace to put my stuff! Therefore, I have boxes and boxes. My hobbies are genealogy – that generates lots of papers, documents, photographs, etc. Scrapbooking – that generates lots of papers, tools, equipment, etc. Photography – that generates lots of equipment, camera, lenses, SD cards, etc. None of these are minimal type of hobbies. I finally have a room in the house that will be a combination office/craft room. I have a bookcase, 2 filing cabinets, a tall 12x23x60 inch cabinet, a small sideboard, and 2 folding tables. I need another, smaller, bookcase to fit into the closet of the room. It has taken me a year to get the room to the point where I can actually see progress and I have the anticipation of using it. Right now, I am in the process of working on the office portion of the room. I have to file a ton of paperwork, one of the filing cabinets is set up for that, and I just have to get busy and alphabetically file, bank statements, electric bills, auto insurance, water bill, and such. Once I get going on it I should be done in just a couple of days. However, to get to that point, I have other boxes that need to be moved around, and set aside out of the way.
The other filing cabinet will be used for my genealogy records, such as I can fit there. The top drawer will be for my family, the bottom drawer will be for Mike’s family. I will need to figure out a process for organizing photographs that will go with each family record, and most likely I will use 10×13 envelopes for much of this, but I’m getting ahead of myself. Those records will be put into the drawers, and left until I can get back to them, probably after the 1st of the year.
I have my budget ledger ready to go; I am waiting on the year end statements to do the final tallies for each amount, and I have 2 credit cards I plan to pay off this next year. I am so thankful I have been doing the finances for several years, because Mike is totally unable, now. His concept of finances is totally gone, and recently he accused me of stealing from him when I was paying a handyman for doing some work for us. I now have to ask different people not to talk finances around him because it confuses him to much. I am thankful I took a financial class a few years ago. The class was through our church, and since Mike and I were in the Deacons of our church, we were prepared, to help those who were struggling financially, with an overview of where their money was going and suggestions on how to possibly cut expenses. Doing the classes benefitted me greatly, and helped me realize how to cut our expenses. I learned by doing!
At this point in time, today, all is well. Mike is content, and I am making progress in areas of the house I have been working on. It’s been a great day. Have a good evening.
