Talent, on loan, from God

1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

Mike working on a clay sculpture – this is part of the process he took to make a replica 1910 Golf Bag, with clubs

Finished product. Life size golf bag with clubs – this is entirely made from clay! And the clubs are removable from the bag.

Mike had such talent it was difficult to fathom how anyone could process what was needed to sculpt something from clay – with the golf bag Mike used a large PVC pipe to make the necessary form for the circular bag, it was the closest I had ever seen him get to using a ‘mold’ for a project.

Mike has had several awards for his art, and several article written about him, but it’s now been over a year since he even attempted to get back to working in the clay. And it is sad to know he may never produce art like this again.

Today was wonderful, I had Christian Christmas music playing softly in the background all day, and Mike and I were getting ready to go to a friend’s home for dinner. Then they called, they just found out a couple of days before they had been exposed to the virus so dinner plans were cancelled; but they brought by homemade chicken tortilla soup. It was delicious! And there were homemade cookies as an added treat. They were so kind to do that for us.

I started making a batch of baklava for dessert, thinking I would take some with me to their house, but since we didn’t go – I now have a full tray of it. And I have to make a new tray for a get together we’re going to on Friday evening.

Mike was in a great mood, no issues of any kind, and he was moving better than he had been. This make me happy to see. I am thankful for all the little glimpses of normal I get to experience with Mike. I am thankful for the chance to take care of him and make sure he’s safe. I do get frustrated, and irritable, at times, but that’s just life. I am thankful I’ve had almost a full week of Mike doing well, and being more active. Hopefully, in January, he will go to Terry Lee’s studio and begin to mess with the clay again.

Overall, it’s been a great day. Have a good evening.
