Invigorating

Psalm 13:5 But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.

A castle in Scotland, August 2017

I have to say, today was delightful! Last week I told Mike I was planning to go to lunch with a group of women. He said okay. I reminded him several times through the week that I was going to go to lunch. He said okay. A few days ago our DIL came over to say hello, and we visited and I confirmed that she could be her on the 20th (today) to ‘bake bread’. She said yes, and she was planning to have the granddaughters with her to begin teaching them. So I reminded Mike I was going to lunch on the 20th and then said: Alycia had just asked if she could come over, with the girls, and teach them how to bake bread, but I won’t be here. Would that be okay with him? He said yes! (I was so excited!!)

This morning, I got up, got my tea, and sat with Mike in the living room, then I reminded him I was going to lunch with some ladies, and Alycia would be here with the girls. He looked puzzled for a minute, then smiled and said, “I remember!” I told him I needed to get ready and he said he was going to rest a minute – and he fell asleep.

After I was ready, I made sure he had his meds, and Alycia texted she was on her way, the girls were already here, so I left. Two, wonderful hours, with no worry, concern, or cares! I visited with the other women, we talked about our hobbies, and we laughed, and ate lunch and I relaxed fully. It was great, invigorating. I so needed this. I brought a gyro home for Mike and he was napping when I walked in – Alycia and the girls were in the kitchen.

After a little while, the kids decided to go roller skating at the local rink, and they all took off. Mike and I sat together for a while, and then he wanted popcorn. I fixed it, we went to the family room and watched some tv until it was time for Mike to turn out the lights.

I am tired, but feel refreshed and in a much better frame of mind then I had been for a while. Thank you, Alycia, for being willing to be here and give me a break!
