Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Hawk flying over Cougar Gulch, March 2021
Mike slept again, almost all day. And I did almost nothing, all day. The little bit I did get done, was calling the Bennet House, an adult day care facility, and I’ve made arrangements to go there on Thursday for a a quick tour and to see if this is someplace Mike would enjoy going. The director told me there are a several men who meet there for coffee a couple of times a week and maybe that is something Mike would enjoy! She also said the men are not shy about introducing themselves. There is one man, in Mike’s Thursday lunch group, who I just might be able to get involved here. This man is single, and says he has nothing much to do all day long. He says he really looks forward to going to lunch on Thursday, because it’s about his only time out and being with others. If I can get Rick to pick up Mike on Mondays and Wednesdays to go to the Bennet House for a couple or three hours I would be thrilled! The director said it would be okay for Rick to stay with Mike during the time they would be there, and I’d have time to do all my errands, and get some things done at the house.
The Bennet House has a variety of things going on, arts & crafts, cards (Mike doesn’t play), chess, puzzles, visiting, and so on. I pray this works out! And the cost isn’t super high, so we could afford two times a week. In the meantime, we just go along, day by day.
Tonight I told Mike he must take a shower, it’s very difficult to monitor him with his showers. And he doesn’t want me in the bathroom with him, so I don’t know if he’s fully washing himself. He doesn’t see there’s a problem here, and I am unsure how to deal with this. If he showers in the morning, I will take the chance to get into his room, and strip the bed, and do his laundry!
For now, though, it’s time to shut down for the night.
