Dr. Britt called Mike today to inform Mike, he (the doctor) wanted to make sure Mike was socializing! Mike said of course – he goes to lunch with friends on Thursday, and I take him to lunch on Tuesday and all is well and good. The problem is, I do not get more than 90 minutes – sometimes- on Thursdays. And there are so many things that I don’t get done through the week, I have to spend the time running errands, buy groceries, getting prescriptions, or whatever. So I am still tired, still no break. I am planning to take Mike to the Bennett House this coming Monday and drop him off for 2 hours. We’ll see how that works!
My goal is to have Mike go there 2x a week for 2-3 hours each day, but right now, if I could get 3 hours on Mondays and then 90 minutes on Thursdays I would really appreciate that. I work hard to take care of Mike. I try to give him his medications at a routine time, fix meals, keep the house clean, do the bills, run to the market, do the laundry, drive him to all of his appointments, and I cannot make it for my necessary appointments – so I have gotten to the point I just don’t make them anymore.
I have had to have Mike turn his jacket right side out at least 2x this week. I had to re-button his shirt for him; he keeps wearing mismatched socks, and I tell him I need to mate them for him he says he did it. So I’ve left that one alone.
Yesterday, we picked the car up from the collision repair shop, and now Mike’s lecturing me on how to drive, and where to park, because the car might get damaged; and it would be expensive to get fixed! I just say okay and let it go.
We ate dinner while watching tv this evening, and about 9pm I told Mike I needed to get ready for bed; but 1st I cleaned the kitchen, dishes in the dishwasher & turned on, counters wiped off, swept the floor (but it needs more attention) and wiped off the stove. So about 10:30 I headed upstairs to bed and I got sidetracked working on another diamond painting project for almost 30 minutes. Now it’s time to turn out the lights and say good night.
