Is It Depression?

Philippians 1:11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Me and Mike at Fort George, near Inverness, Scotland. August 2017

It was another quiet day today. Mike slept until 10:30 and after he walked upstairs, he laid down on the sofa and slept again until almost 1 pm. When he got up, he wanted to go to Elmer’s for lunch so off we went. We were done eating about 2:15 and he said he wanted to go for a ride, but it didn’t last long – he turned to me and said “Please take me home” I turned the car around, and he was in the house and asleep within 10 minutes of getting home.

When Mike woke up about 4:30 he went outside for 15 or so minutes, and when he came back in he was panting like he’d run a marathon, and he laid back down to sleep until 6. I am trying to remember to track his sleeping amounts, he tells me he doesn’t sleep, he says he’s just sitting there with his eyes closed; but the snoring says different!

I believe Mike is sleeping so much because he’s depressed, and there is nothing I can do about it. I have tried to keep him busy, and active, but he constantly resists, and constantly refuses to participate with planned activities.

I am looking for a couple of raised garden beds, or containers, to do some gardening, and I am hoping one of Mike’s friends will be willing to use a trencher and put some sprinkler lines in for me. It appalls me the landscaping company wants $5,500 to do this! One of the things I will have to ask Mike’s friend – can he do it on Monday? or do part on 1 Monday, and finish the rest on another Monday! (Without Mike knowing!) Also, Mike has done something to the ride mower and it needs work, but I have no way to get it to the shop, and maybe said friend will know something about that also????

It’s quite a struggle to get things done without upsetting Mike, and these are things he’s always handled for himself (in the past). Those days are long gone and I am at the mercy of anyone who offers to help. Here’s hoping I can keep my sanity, and some of my finances, intact!!
