Mother’s Day 2021

Psalm 85:10 Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY – 9 MAY 2021

Today began quiet enough, and after Mike was up, took his shower, he went back to sleep for another 3 hours! When he did, finally, get up, he decided to do some yard work. So, after finding non-ethanol fuel, and all the other stuff he needed, he went outside to put fuel into the tank of the hedge trimmer – and he got injured by hitting his head, near the left eyebrow. Blood flowed everywhere, and I insisted he get it checked out. We got to the ER and they looked at it and offered numbing the area & putting in 3 stitches, or using skin glue. I opted for the glue and Mike concurred. So our ER visit lasted just 45 minutes.

After getting home, Mike was sitting in his chair, and Robert had cooked dinner. Before we sat down to eat, Robert had the Grandkids using remote control boats in the pool and they were racing each other. Fun to watch.

Today, I discovered Mike didn’t have sheets on his bed, and after dinner, I asked him why? He said he had a hard time doing it and sometimes he forgot what he was doing! So I went downstairs, made the bed for him and had it done in less than 10 minutes. I asked why he hadn’t said anything before I asked and he said ” I should know how to do this! Why can’t I remember how? I was embarrassed to ask you to help me.” I tried to reassure him there was no need to be embarrassed, no need to hide it. I’m here to help and to assist and try to make it easier for him. I just need to know when help is needed. He gave me a hug and and was happy his bed was made. Because we’re in different rooms, I sometimes forget to check on his room and see if there’s anything I can do to help him.

I told Mike I was going upstairs to get his evening meds, and I would be right back down. I was upstairs, heard him calling me, so I looked over the bannister and asked what he needed. “Where are you?” He wanted to know. “I’m upstairs getting your meds.” “I didn’t know that’s where you were” “It’s okay, Mike. What do you need?” “I don’t need anything, why did you ask me that?” (sigh) “You called me, do you need something?” “I didn’t call you, I don’t need anything.” I smiled and said “Okay.”

Now it’s almost 11pm, and I am very tired.
